Our urban habitat is a complex combination of physical, social, economical and environmental aspects. Designing its morphological composition has a big impact on the other components and it is therefore a delicate task. CS turns the complexity of systems into understandable strategies to find solutions. To improve the existing urban fabric CS is convinced that the key to success has to be found in the opportunities offered by the urban void as a new generator for a sustainable urban development.
The reconsideration of the system called CITY is fundamental for understanding the complexity of the problem. Once we accept that we are a part of a global eco-system and that we have to look for a win-win situation between technology and ecology, we will find easily the solutions to improve our built environment. The advantages of a sustainable design can only be seen on a mid-term period, fitting in the same rhythm of growth of nature. We have to look for technological solutions that fit in a natural way of growing.
